We embark on a captivating journey with Harry Robinson and Alen Van Rooyen as they navigate the South Devonshire coastline, melding manmade shapes with organic materials to craft their distinctive wooden surfboards. Their ethos centers on the belief that each board possesses the potential to carve its own unique path when infused with passion and soul.
At the heart of their craftsmanship lies a dedication to marrying traditional techniques with innovative design, resulting in surfboards that not only perform exceptionally but also resonate with authenticity and artistry. In capturing their story, we opted to shoot in 100% natural light, allowing the inherent beauty of their surroundings to complement the authenticity of their work. This approach not only accentuated the raw, organic aesthetic of the coastline but also underscored the genuine craftsmanship imbued in each surfboard.
Moreover, the film features appearances by professional surfers, adding an extra layer of depth to the narrative as they test and showcase the capabilities of Robinson and Van Rooyen's creations. Through their collaborative efforts, the film offers a poignant exploration of the intersection between passion, craftsmanship, and the boundless spirit of the sea.
